Women's Christmas Gathering 2008

In November the ladies of GEC had a wonderful time of fellowship at the home of Diane Fraser as we met for a night of praise to our Heavenly Father. We had a full house as many women brought food to donate to those in need and enjoyed a meal of homemade soups served by Kirk Sutherland and Dan Chin. After a time of worshiping in song led by Sergio Rodriguez, Jan Bohyer shared pictures and reported on her trip to Africa in September. Thanks to all who helped make this a fun and memorable evening. In an effort to reach out to those in need within our community, the deaconesses are sponsoring a drive during the month of December to donate new socks, mittens, and/or gloves to present to a shelter for the homeless. There is a tree set up in the foyer where you can place your donation. The deaconesses have established a quilt ministry to give new quilts to babies who are born into our church family and are now looking to expand this ministry to donate quilts or shawls for those who are seriously ill. As these blankets of love are stitched, they are bathed in prayers for the recipient. If you would like to be a part of this blessing and can sew, crochet, knit or donate materials and/or time for this ministry, please contact one of the deaconesses.

Bible studies are available on Tuesday and Friday mornings and also on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for the women of GEC. If you would like to be involved in a small group, being connected and learning God's Word together, please contact one of deaconesses. Now is the time to reflect on how you have grown spiritually in 2009 and make plans for your spiritual growth in 2010.

One Bible study we offer which requires some advance notice and a lot of commitment is the First Place 4 Health. We meet on Tuesday evenings and complete our current session on December 1. Our next session starts on January 5 and requires the purchase of materials and attending an orientation session. If you are interested in this Bible study, please contact Mary Chin. We have been giving some thought to how we can minister to one another and have fellowship with one another in 2010 and look forward to hearing your ideas.
